Better Read than Dead - A Literary Legacy (Updated 05/16/12)

Carizzo:
Spoiler:
I didn't use any cheats with Owen's portrait. That one was a 'still life', so... it was tiny. But his real one is actually pretty good. I'm now trying to figure out how to do Cheri's. I have no clue other than teaching one of the kids to paint. :dunno:

Okay. Some people have talked about how to do good portraits, but I don't know the cheat/hint. Guess I'll keep doing it the way I've been doing it. :)

Spoiler:
Aldous: “I’m stumped. In class, we’re reading a book called ‘Brave New World’, and it’s been keeping me up.”
Oh? Is that so…
Aldous: “I can’t help but feel connected to this book.”

That made me laugh. XD As did most all of your work, or at least make me smile. :)

Cheri: “Then we throw you to the wolf den that is story progression.”
*nodnod* Have fun Aldous! XD

And of course I miss the poll the day it closed. -_- So now I will comment on the other chapter! :D

Aldous: “Dad, what happens if I never find the right girl?”
Owen: “Oh I wouldn’t be concerned son, but if you’re curious, I think your mother and I will feed you to a cowplant.”

Awwww. XDDDD

Great updates! :D

I just started reading your legacy, and I think it's great! I'm a major bibliophile, so of course I think the theme is a superb choice.

I like the idea of treating your IFs like little valets or butlers. Although I still find them extraordinarily creepy. Sometimes... they haunt my dreams.

Cheerio:
Spoiler:
Their little walk, or strut, freaks me out! And they're always, always in the way. Maybe it's my fault I have the Reads living in a small house, but I'm going to blame it on the IFs. I really wanted to see Darcy, how he would turn out, but I don't think I have the patience. And the thought of growing up and marrying your IF is a little weird too. Maybe I'll try it again for another generation.

I really like this legacy! Read the whole thing in one go (yay for snowstorms as an excuse to not leave the house.)
Can't wait for more! :)

Stupid work! If only we could find some Plutonium in our backyards and get rich like Sims. On second thought, the whole 'radioactive' thing is probably not so great.

Spoiler:
I'm kind of sad that Aldous isn't the heir. I was all ready for Star/Aldous babies. But, on the other hand, Jane might be more interesting because she is less prepared. I'm excited to see who she marries!
I'm Julia. You can call me... Julia.

Spoiler:
Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying.

Cheerio:
Indeed, it drives me crazy sometimes! Don't get me wrong, love my job and what I do, but sometimes customer service makes me want to pull my hair out!
Spoiler:
Also, I KNOW! Alstar babies would've been fantasmic. (See? I'm making up words it'd be so special.) But I think Janie will do just fine, or at least I hope. There is a sincere lack of teens in their town, 5 including Al, Jane and Ayn. D:

This is a nice theme for a legacy! And nice that Jane didn't marry the first guy she met. I look forward to the plot on the horizon.

Lovely little Legacy :) (oooh, alliteration for your literature heart :) )

Spoiler:
I'm actually quite glad Jane's heiress, her cluelessness (wtf is that even a word?) will add to the story!
Plots are alwayss interesting - i look forward to seeing where this goes :)

Hi! I was scrolling through the legacies and I happened to find yours! I must say, I do love the concept of naming after famous authors, its interesting to have a little history/English lesson before reading the chapter :s_biggrin (I can be a history/English/informational geek at times  ). Owen is amusing to read about too..., sad to see his red hair didn't get passed down to the kids though :s_sad . Lastly....the kids are all good looking, and can't wait to see who takes over! correction...I see your banner now, so nvm I know who's taking over lol

xD Glad to know everyone is enjoying. Just wanted to post and let everyone know the Reads aren't dead. I'm just super busy in the real world, so I have no time to Sim as of late. Spring Break is on the horizon though, so maybe I can fit in a little simming time there. Thank you all again and happy simming!
